LawPal is built and operated by Olee AI (Pvt) Ltd, an AI company working in Sri Lanka and the United States. We make one thing here: the reading, the record and the drafting a Sri Lankan practice does every week, with the authority beside every claim.

Why we built it

Because the answer was always in a book somebody had.

A junior in Colombo spends an afternoon looking for a judgment a partner half-remembers. A filing date gets written on the back of a brief. A deed of transfer gets typed from last year’s deed of transfer, and the clause that was wrong last year is wrong again. None of that is a failure of skill; it is a failure of having the reading, the dates and the instruments in one place.

So LawPal holds 23,747 judgments and 3,072 Acts, searched on the facts rather than the citation; the firm’s own diary and its appeal clocks, which remind you of the dates you enter; and 74 Sri Lankan instruments filled in by interview. What a firm files is read alongside the Law Reports, and never on anybody else’s question.

It shows its working because the alternative is worse. An answer with no citation reads exactly like an answer with one, and a tool that guesses confidently is more dangerous to a practice than a tool that says it does not know. So every claim carries the judgment, the section or the file it came from, or it says, plainly, that the material does not answer the question.

Nothing is asserted without a source

Every proposition carries the case, the section or the paper it came from. Where the material does not answer, the product says so rather than filling the gap.

It does not advise, and it does not predict

No outcome is forecast and no course of action is recommended. The reading is ours; the judgement is the attorney’s, and the line between them is not blurred to make a demo better.

It never files, serves or sends

Approving a draft marks it ready for a person to take to the registry. There is no automation anywhere in this product that sends a document to a court or to another party.

A firm’s papers are the firm’s

Your documents are never used to answer another firm’s question, and never used to train a model. You can download everything and you can have it deleted.

Nohim Abeynayake is Co-Founder & CEO of LawPal, an AI platform purpose-built for Sri Lankan legal professionals. Drawing on three years of specialised appellate research experience at the Court of Appeal, combined with a First Class LLB (Hons) and an LLM (Distinction) in International Commercial Law, Nohim has embedded deep legal knowledge and lived professional experience directly into LawPal’s architecture. His appellate research experience is grounded in institutional reality; his commercial law expertise stems from rigorous academic training at postgraduate level. Together, these inform every layer of the platform, translating the realities of Sri Lankan legal practice into intelligent, actionable guidance.

He brings a proven track record in building and scaling knowledge-based institutions. Nohim does not build tools for legal professionals; he builds tools as a legal professional. He drives LawPal with the clarity of someone who understands the system from the inside and the technical vision to make informed, credible and dependable legal research and process management universally accessible.

Head of Legal Operations and Relationships

Milinda Randeniya is Head of Legal Operations and Relationships at LawPal, responsible for the legal integrity of everything the platform produces, so that its research and drafting stand on Sri Lankan statute, case law and procedure, to a standard a practising Attorney-at-Law can rely on.

An Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, he practises as Junior Counsel at the Chambers of Dr. Faisz Musthapha, President’s Counsel, principally before the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court in constitutional, public interest and administrative law, having trained in commercial litigation under Mr. Avindra Rodrigo, President’s Counsel. He holds an LL.B (Hons) from General Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy, where he served as Vice President of the Moot Court and Debating Society.

A judgment that names you

Judgments are public record, but if something about you in the library is wrong, or should not be there, the request goes to a person.

Dilshan Abeygunawardana is Co-Founder and Director of LawPal, and Co-Founder of Olee AI, the company that builds and operates the platform. He sets LawPal’s product direction, deciding what it does for legal professionals and, as deliberately, what it will not do. At Olee AI he works with businesses to identify where AI can take on their operational load.

An entrepreneur and builder since childhood, he has created software, PC and Android games, and holds more than 70 local and international awards, including an e-Swabhimani national award for a computer game he developed.

He is also one of Sri Lanka’s most followed digital voices, with more than 650,000 followers across YouTube, Instagram and Facebook and two YouTube Creator Awards. His podcast, Dilshan’s Thoughts, ranked among Sri Lanka’s top-rated podcasts and in the top ten per cent of most followed podcasts worldwide on Spotify.

Chief Technology Officer

Kosala Jayasekara is Chief Technology Officer of LawPal, and of Fixel Digital and Olee AI. He has spent more than a decade as an iOS engineer, software consultant, author and speaker, and he holds an MSc from Asia e University. For ten years he has lectured in iOS development to computer science undergraduates at NIBM, in partnership with Coventry University in the United Kingdom.

He is an established international speaker, presenting talks and leading developer workshops at conferences across Europe and Japan, and consults for companies in Sri Lanka and worldwide.

His work runs from mobile and web applications to IoT and VR, and at LawPal he owns the engineering: how it is built, where it runs, what it costs to run, and whether it is standing when a firm opens it on a Monday morning.
